What Is It? When Is It? Are the Deals Actually Worth It?
We are quickly approaching one of my favorite days of the year to stock up on home items, buy gifts for others and splurge on a few books for me. If you haven’t heard about Amazon Prime Day then you’re missing out on the biggest deal day of the year. It rivals Black Friday shopping with the sheer amount of discounts offered on plus you can shop in your PJs and you don’t have to venture out to a crowded store.
Even better news is that this year Amazon has extended Prime Day to a 2-day event. This means more time to shop the deals, more deals to find and more steals for you. I am all about saving money on things I would’ve bought anyway. And it’s even better when I can save money and stay in my PJs.
So exactly what is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime Day is Amazon’s version of Black Friday. It was originally started in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 15th anniversary and it was so popular that Amazon has brought it back year after year. It happens in mid-July every year. Massive discounts are offered on everything from clothing to household goods to electronics. I have seen discounts in years past as high as 75% off on certain items.
When is Amazon Prime Day?
This year’s Amazon Prime Day starts at 12am PT (3am ET) Monday, July 15, 2019 and ends at 11:59pm PT (2:59am ET) on July 16th, 2019. That’s a full 48 hours of deals!
Are the deals really that great?
Short answer: ABSOLUTELY! If there is any item you have had your eye on for a while, big or small, chances are that it is discounted (or a version of that item). For example, if you’re really in need of children’s socks (like me) chances are that there will be at least one brand or type that are heavily discounted on Prime Day. The trick is to not be super picky about a specific brand for the smaller ticket items.
The discounts available for Prime Day, in my opinion, are sometimes even better than Black Friday deals. And the fantastic thing about Amazon is that they carry nearly every product under the sun so whether you are just looking to stock up your house on toilet paper or you’re wanting to buy a 60 inch TV there are discounts for all types of products at all price points.
What should I buy on Prime Day?
The deals on Prime Day are far sweeping and extend beyond your typical big-ticket items. Obviously, if you’re looking for a big ticket item like a TV or kitchen appliance then Prime Day is your best bet. But even if you’re just looking for ordinary items you can take advantage of Amazon Pantry deals to stock up on household goods, so that laundry detergent you were going to buy anyway can go right into your Prime Day shopping cart.
How do I take advantage of Prime Day?
In order to take advantage of the massive Prime Day deals, you have to be an Amazon Prime member.
I’ve been an Amazon Prime member for years and originally started my membership to save on shipping and get free 2-day shipping. I now use my membership for everything from autoship vitamins every month to Prime Video shows for me and the kiddos to free books. There are SO many things that a membership has to offer that I feel like it is 100% worth it.
Sign up for a free 30 day trial to check out Prime, see what it’s all about and take advantage of all of the Prime Day deals.
